Cray Research Opens First Wisconsin Sales Office,
Major Wisconsin Manufacturer Targets State Prospects

Madison, Wisconsin, June 20, 1994 -- Cray Research, Inc.
(NYSE:CYR) today announced that it has opened its first
Wisconsin sales office in Madison to serve the state's growing
industrial and university market for supercomputing systems. 

According to Les Davis, Cray's chief operating officer based in
Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, the new sales office in Madison
will provide sales and service support to supercomputing
customers in Wisconsin.  

"Our best near-term prospects for new business come from the
heavy machinery, engine and engine-related companies and pulp
and paper industries," said John Becker, Cray account manager,

Becker said that Cray Research systems, which range in cost
from $150,000 to $30 million, are utilized to simulate and
visualize complex problems faced by industries around the
world.  Supercomputer visualizations and simulations enable
industries to improve designs and shorten development cycles
for new products.

supercomputing systems for government, university and
commercial markets.  Cray systems are widely used in the
automotive, aerospace, petroleum, chemical and
