Cray/Media: Mardi Larson, 612/683-3538 Cray/Financial: Brad Allen, 612/683-7395 3M GETS FIRST CRAY SUPERCOMPUTER EAGAN, Minn., Oct. 19, 1995 -- Cray Research (NYSE:CYR) said it won a competitive bid from 3M's Electronic Products Division in Austin, Texas, which ordered and installed a CRAY(R) J916 compact supercomputer in the third quarter. Cray officials said other vendors considered included IBM and Fujitsu. Terms were not disclosed. The supercomputer will be used for applications related to electronics packaging. Cray said this is the first of its systems installed at 3M, which is headquartered in St. Paul. Cray also announced earlier today that is has installed its first supercomputer in Colombia at the University of Los Andes.
