Media: Frank Parisi 612/683-7130 BRAD ALLEN JOINS CRAY RESEARCH AS NEW INVESTOR RELATIONS LEADER EAGAN, Minn., October 13, 1994 -- Brad Allen will join Cray Research, Inc. (NYSE: CYR) as director of investor relations, it was announced today by Michael Lindseth, Cray's chief financial officer. Allen, 44, previously held a similar position with Digital Equipment Corporation of Maynard, Mass. In the new position, Allen will be responsible for all investor relations activities including the development of financial communications and ongoing contact with key financial analysts, shareholders and markets. "We are very pleased to have such a broadly experienced financial communications executive join the Cray Research team," Lindseth said. "Brad will occupy a key position from which he'll help me and the senior management team communicate and successfully execute our financial and operating strategies," Lindseth added. A native of Waterville, Ohio, Allen holds a bachelor of arts degree from Ohio State University and a master of science in finance from Boston College's Graduate School of Management. In addition, he has completed extensive coursework in Science Communication at Boston University. Allen joined DEC in 1985 and has held a series of corporate public relations and investor relations positions there. Prior to 1985 he worked as a journalist and public relations executive and served as Press Secretary to the Massachusetts Fifth Congressional District (1984) and the State Senate Ways and Means Committee (1982-1984). Previously, he worked as a correspondent and editor for several technical and community publications. He is a national board member of NIRI, the National Investor Relations Institute and also teaches a graduate level course "Managing Investor Relations" at the Northeastern University School of Management in Boston.
