CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wisconsin, August 10, 1993 -- Cray Research, Inc. (NYSE:  CYR) has

acquired rights to certain specific technologies from Supercomputer Systems Limited

Partnership (SSLP).  The technology agreement was signed today at Cray's manufacturing and

hardware development center here.  Terms were not disclosed.  Under the agreement Cray has

acquired intellectual property developed for and owned by SSLP.  Cray said the technologies

acquired may be incorporated into some future products but would not result in new products or

facilities.



Cray also extended its patent cross licensing arrangement with International Business Machines.
