Cray/Media: Mardi Larson, 612/683-3538 Cray/Financial: Brad Allen, 612/683-7395 FRENCH NATIONAL CENTER OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ORDERS MULTIPLE CRAY SYSTEMS EAGAN, Minn., Oct. 18, 1995 -- The French National Supercomputing Facility (IDRIS) for the National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS) has placed a third-quarter order for Cray MPP supercomputers including a CRAY(R) T3D scalable parallel processing system and a CRAY T3D successor system due out next year, Cray Research (NYSE:CYR) announced today. Terms of the competitive bid were not disclosed. The CRAY T3D system was installed and accepted at IDRIS, near Paris, in third quarter. The next-generation system is slated for installation next year, Cray officials said. The systems will serve the high-performance computing needs of the French scientific community. The CRAY T3D and next- generation scalable parallel processing systems are specifically targeted to grand challenge problems in environmental research, chemistry and physics.
