Performance, Capacity Boosts Will Benefit Software Leader
and Its Customers

EAGAN, Minn., April 11, 1996 -- Cray Research, Inc. announced
today that Quadstone Limited, a leading Scottish-based
software and consulting company, has chosen the CRAY CS6400
system as a database server for large scale decision support
and data warehousing applications.  Terms of the agreement
were not disclosed.

The CS6400 system, combined with Quadstone's Decisionhouse
data mining software, will triple the performance of
Quadstone's database and quadruple its capacity.

Quadstone Limited provides packaged software solutions to
large organizations in the UK and worldwide.  The company's
software enables its customers to extract useful information
from large amounts of data, improving the efficiency and cost-
effectiveness of their business processes.

"The combination of Quadstone's Decisionhouse data mining
software and the CS6400's performance gives Quadstone's
customers the facility to analyze and process huge volumes of
data both quickly and accurately,"  said Mark Smith, marketing
director for Quadstone.

Decisionhouse, Quadstone's powerful data analysis tool,
supports applications such as targeted marketing, trend
analysis and customer assessment.  Combining modern data
mining methods with high-performance optimization and
statistical techniques allows Quadstone to offer a unique
consulting service for data analysis.

industry-leading system bandwidth of 1.76 gigabytes per
second, fast input/output throughput, and multiprocessor
scalability of up to 64 processors.  The CS6400 servers are
compatible with the Solaris 2.5 operating systems and run any
of the thousands of Solaris applications available.
