CRAY RESEARCH RESUMES STOCK BUYBACK



EAGAN, Minn., August 12, 1993 -- Cray Research, Inc. (NYSE:  CYR) will resume purchasing

its common shares on the open market under its existing stock repurchase program, the

company said today.



In January, 1992, Cray announced a repurchase program under which it could acquire up to

1.5 million shares in the open market.  The company has acquired about 925,000 of these

shares to date.
