This agreement will significantly broaden CraySoft's reach into Sun's installed base. SunExpress will offer NQE, a sophisticated batch processing and automatic load balancing program developed by Cray Research and widely used in UNIX networks. The system automatically distributes a job to the most appropriate resource on a network, whether that is a single workstation, a workstation cluster, a server or a Cray Research superserver or supercomputer system. Users can submit a job to any one network resource or combination of resources to complete the job most quickly. They do not need to know what resource is being used. The NQE software manages file transfers, job queuing and load balancing on the network transparently. Based on the defacto industry standard Network Queuing System (NQS), NQE allows SPARCstations and SPARCservers to be easily integrated with each other to queue job scripts on designated servers. The product currently supports SPARC/Solaris- compliant systems and other UNIX workstations and servers. "As more of Sun's customers build large client/server systems, they are looking for new ways to more effectively leverage their enterprise resources. By offering NQE through SunExpress, Sun users now have an easy, convenient way to acquire this powerful networking tool," said Genelle Trader, SunExpress director of marketing and business development. "Our agreement with SunExpress accelerates our ability to bring NQE's capabilities to the SPARC/Solaris marketplace," said Leary Gates, CraySoft program manager. "SunExpress' strong aftermarket focus and responsive customer service will help us deliver NQE to customers ready to enhance their open systems environments."
